Hi... I'm Reid Gershbein, I make art and films, and this is the place where I put up stuff related to the personal films I make and the awesome stuff that other indie filmmakers do too.
There's this thing that I started called #2wkfilm for lots of reasons like the fact that I thought it is a great way to "prototype" film ideas and give insights into the filmmaking process by imposing limitations on the production cycle. I think it's working really well and I've learned a lot from it and hope that others have too.
The name Royal Baronial Theatre came from the fact that I love plays and theater, and thought it would be funny to pick the most pretentious name possible for the site of the little, indie films that I make since you can pick any name you want for something. I think most people just think it's pretentious and not that funny, my bad.
I guess people sometimes want to know a little bit of background so here's some info on what I've done in the past: I worked at Pixar Animation Studios and Dreamworks Animation in research and development and as a technical director. Credits include Monsters Vs Aliens, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Madagascar (and Madagascar 2), Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda, Over the Hedge, and Flushed Away. I founded and was CEO the animation studio Thrave where I produced, wrote, and/or directed over a dozen short animated films. Wrote, directed, and produced the live-action feature films "Broken Arrows", "Here. My Explosion...", and "The Dabbler, the Dreamer, and the Man Who Broke the World". I went to school at Stanford and Princeton University where I was in the Computer Science PhD program, was an undergraduate at Oberlin College, and was born and raised in Buffalo, New York.
Oberlin College asked me to write up something about my life post-graduation that has a bunch of details. You can read that here.
